Electrophoretic Patterns of Normal and Pathological Human Blood Serum and Plasma
نویسندگان
چکیده
The electrophoretic patterns of a series of normal and pathological human sera and plasmas have been obtained using the schlieren scanning method. From these patterns the mobilities and concentrations of the electrophoretically distinct protein components have been computed. The mobilities fall into five well defined groups corresponding to albumin, alpha, beta, and gamma globulins, and fibrinogen. The concentrations of the different components in pathological sera have been compared with those in normal sera, and the following tentative generalizations may be made. The albumin/globulin ratios for pathological sera have been consistently lower than those for normal sera. The values of the alpha globulin/albumin ratio for the sera of the febrile patients studied were high, the average value being over twice the normal value. The gamma globulin/albumin ratios for aplastic anemia and rheumatic fever sera were also above normal. Certain pathological conditions, notably nephrosis, were accompanied by large increases in a gamma globulin. There is evidence that, in part at least, this consists of a labile lipo-protein.

Serum Alpha-1-antitrypsin Evaluation by Three Electrophoretic, Enzymatic and Immunodiffussion Methods
Abstract Background & Objective: Alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) is the major component of the human plasma alpha-1 globulin proteins and acts as a major inhibitor of proteolytic enzymes, particularly elastase. AAT deficiency is accompanied by lung, liver and other disorders, therefore, AAT is clinically important and its precise evaluation is diagnostically critical. In present study serum AAT was e...

Background & Aims: Preeclampsia complicates 5 to 10 percent of all pregnancies that contribute greatly to maternal morbidity and mortality rates. Although homocysteine is a necessary amino acid to maintain cell growing and developing but at the serum levels above normal is a risk factor for some endothelial damages and thrombosis inside blood vessels. In the present study, we investigated the ...
متن کاملO-16: Human Dietary Patterns and SemenQuality
Background: Are dietary patterns, substantiated by biomarkers, associated with semen quality? Materials and Methods: In 161 men of subfertile couples undergoing in vitro fertilization treatment in a tertiary referral clinic in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, we assessed nutrient intakes and performed principal component factor analysis to identify dietary patterns. Total homocysteine (tHcy), folate...

Objective(s): Hemiscorpius lepturus is one of the dangerous scorpions of Iran leading to acute kidney injury (AKI) especially in infants. The purpose of this animal study was to compare the serological, pathological and scintigraphic data to quickly predict the occurrence of this disorder.Materials and Methods: In two groups of animals, each contained five rats, H. lepturus venom (1200 µg/Kg) w...
متن کاملCo-amoxiclav Effects on the Structural and Binding Properties of Human Serum Albumin
Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant plasma protein in the human body. HSA plays an important role in drug transport and metabolism. This protein has a high affinity to a very wide range of materials, including metals such as Cu2+ and Zn2+, fatty acids, amino acids and metabolites such as bilirubin and many drug compounds. In this study, we investigated the effects of co-amoxiclav, as...
